WHS Principal AnnouncementWHS Principal Announcement

I am pleased to share with you that Joel Giacobozzi will be the next principal of Watertown High School. After an extensive search process which included screening committee interviews, visits to WHS, visits to the candidates’ schools, checking references and truly getting to know the candidates, it became clear to me that Mr. Giacobozzi will be a great principal for WHS and a valuable addition to our WPS leadership team.

Mr. Giacobozzi's roots are deep in Watertown, with his mother and five aunts and uncles attending Watertown High School. He has a strong background in school leadership, beginning with his principal internship at Rogers Middle School in Boston, followed by two years at the Gates Middle School in Scituate as an assistant principal, and currently serves as an assistant headmaster at Boston Latin School, where he is the program director for special education and facilities.  Throughout the selection process, Mr. Giacobozzi demonstrated his commitment to Watertown, his passion for education and leadership, his ability to relate to all stakeholders, his vision for equity and excellence, and an overall excitement about being the WHS principal.  We are very excited to welcome Mr. Giacobozzi on July 1!

Thank you to all teachers, students, staff members, parents, and community members who participated in the process, especially the 17 who served on the Screening Committee.

Yours truly,
